Berlin ist eine junge, dynamische Stadt, berühmt für ihre wechselvolle, spannende Geschichte. This fängt bereits in der letzten Eiszeit an, als gigantischer Gletscher die ursprüngliche Landschaft zerstörten und Eis, Wasser und Wind ein gänzlich neues Gelände gestalteten. Die Entwicklung Berlins und das Leben der Bewohner*innen ist eng mit dieser Geschichte verbunden. Die eiszeitlichen Strukturen begegnen uns überall im Stadtgebiet, wir sind nur nicht in der Lage, diese Spuren zu lesen.
Beate Witzel ist Biologin mit Schwerpunkt Ökologie/Stadtökologie und leitet die geologische Sammlung des Stadtmuseums Berlin mit dem Arbeitsschwerpunkt „Eiszeit in Berlin“, Landschaftsentwicklung und Gesteine.
Beate Witzel hat für das Projekt BETON Berlin eine einstündige Erkundungs- und Entdeckungstour im Volkspark Rehberge entwickelt und wird uns eiszeitliche Strukturen und Spuren in diesem Gelände sichtbar machen.
Berlin is a young, dynamic city, famous for its eventful, exciting history. This already began in the last ice age, when gigantic glaciers destroyed the original landscape and ice, water and wind shaped a completely new terrain. The development of Berlin and the lives of its inhabitants are closely linked to this history. We encounter the glacial structures everywhere in the city, we are just not able to read these traces.
Beate Witzel is a biologist specializing in ecology/urban ecology and is head of the geological collection of the Stadtmuseum Berlin with a focus on "Ice Age in Berlin", landscape development and rocks.
Beate Witzel has developed a one-hour exploration and discovery tour in the "Volkspark Rehberge" for the BETON Berlin project and will make ice-age structures and traces in this area visible to us.
